Ok, you got me, it’s an American advertisement! I was glued to my television for a couple of days during the start of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and saw this commercial a few times.
Walgreens – our Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharma Plus/Rexall comparable store in the United States, is asking people to consider them for their Wellness needs. I may be reaching out on a limb, but I believe Walgreens to be a pharmacy first, and a “store” second.
I shudder to think that they are asking people to consider pharmaceutical prescriptions as “health and wellness” creators, or even for its maintenance. When every other commercial is pitching a drug, a pill, a potion, and the list of side effects runs longer than the actual promotion, something is wrong with this equation.
Tell your friends and make sure your family understands that wellness comes from inside the human body, and is projected outward. There are plenty of actions you can take before finding a prescription to enhance your wellness factor. Yoga, pilates, vitamin or mineral supplements, more exercise, massage therapy, acupuncture are just a few of the viable options.
