1. The approximate onset of chiropractic care (date)
October 2011
2. The problems, symptoms or ailments you were troubled with prior to chiropractic care:
Lower back pain, headaches (including migraines and a constant feeling of pressure in my head), blurry vision (that was not be aided by corrective lenses).
3. The number of weeks, months or years you had these problems:
The lower back pain occurred intermittently for almost two years, but became worse in intensity and frequency three months prior to seeking chiropractic care. I have experienced migraines since childhood, but I began experiencing daily headaches and a general feeling of pressure inside my head 12 years ago. The blurry vision began about 8 years ago.
4. The number of doctors seen and the type of drugs taken (if any) for these problems:
I saw my family doctor for back pain and headaches and two different ophthalmologists for the blurry vision. The headaches and blurry vision were attributed to anxiety, so I was prescribed anti-anxiety medication. I took ibuprofen for the back pain and headaches and, over the course of the year prior to beginning chiropractic care, would consistently go through a large bottle of extra strength ibuprofen every week for the headaches (at least 6-8 400 mg pills per day), but it never completely alleviated the constant pressure and underlying headache.
5. The extent to which your normal life was interrupted due to these health problems:
The daily headaches made it impossible to get through an entire day of work. It made concentration difficult, interrupted sleep, and I felt constantly exhausted.
6. The length of treatment in visits or time before the results of chiropractic care became apparent:
After my first adjustment, I immediately felt less pressure in my head and the blurry vision cleared up for a little while. After a few weeks of adjustments, I no longer experienced constant, daily headaches, and the number of headaches and migraines drastically subsided after approximately two months.
7. Your impression of the general health benefits of chiropractic care and specifically, how it helped you:
Although I still experience headaches, I do not get them as frequently, they are usually less intense, and they mostly dissipate without the use of drugs. I find that I have more energy, I feel less anxious, and my head feels clearer without a constant and intense feeling of pressure inside my head, thus allowing me to be more productive (and a much happier person!) throughout the day.
