Ok, so as it turns out, weekends are exceptions to the 21-day system! From May 28th, my interview with Hugh Reilly, and his guest, an interesting gentleman who as you will see, got me thinking and took our conversation to a unique level! Enjoy, Dr J

Chiropractic in Chatelaine Magazine

2010-06-02T23:07:46-04:00

In a recent update from my Chiropractic Associations, I was informed that they had secured a regular "column" and presence in one of Canada's top women's magazines, Chatelaine.  They will also be present on Chatelaine's website - talking about healthy back habits.  This first placement and presence talks about safe gardening tips so people don't create problems for themselves. I see this as a small, but positive step in the right direction.  I still find their message about what chiropractors do, and who we are, to be weak and unclear.  But I support their efforts, and keep track of them so [...]

Talking Natural Health

2010-04-30T13:00:24-04:00

I had so much fun the last time I spoke on Liquid Lunch - the web-based talk show on That Channel - that I decided to become a regular monthly guest.  Here is the first installment!

Inspired!!!

2010-03-16T09:39:42-04:00

As a health professional, it is my obligation (yes, my governing body requires it), but also my personal satisfaction (I love to learn) to attend conferences about health and healing. I had the privilege to be in California this past weekend at one of the most influential and informative events of my life.  California Jam, an event in its 3rd year, similar to other chiropractic conferences, but different, has me inspired!! I have always loved chiropractic, what it truly stands for and how it has helped improve the health of millions of individuals across the globe.  In my own community, I [...]

Common Vs. Normal

2010-03-04T11:47:50-05:00

Speeding tickets - common?  Of course.  Car accidents? Certainly. Winning the lottery? Maybe not so lucky there. How about headaches, back pain, neck pain or indigestion?  Absolutely, they are all common, and they occur frequently - in fact the current Canadian statistic says that over 80% of us will experience back pain at some point in our lives.  This makes it a very common occurrence. Here's the real question - are they normal?  Ask yourself internally, think about it.  Should you experience back pain, neck pain, or have headaches?  Or do you accept them because at least 2-5 people you know [...]

Choose Walgreens for Wellness??

2010-02-17T15:15:16-05:00

Ok, you got me, it's an American advertisement!  I was glued to my television for a couple of days during the start of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and saw this commercial a few times. Walgreens - our Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharma Plus/Rexall comparable store in the United States, is asking people to consider them for their Wellness needs.  I may be reaching out on a limb, but I believe Walgreens to be a pharmacy first, and a "store" second. I shudder to think that they are asking people to consider pharmaceutical prescriptions as "health and wellness" creators, or even for its maintenance.  [...]

Do you want the Blue, or the Red pill?

2010-02-16T21:56:19-05:00

One of my patients thought this was a great article in Wired Magazine, and brought it to me.  To read it in full, here's your link: Placebos are Getting More Effective.  Drugmakers are Desparate to Know Why. A summary: Over time, the effect of pharmaceuticals, in this example, for battling depression, are dwindling.  I have many patients leaving their medications for natural alternatives, and many are choosing chiropractic care.  I love the conclusion of this article, the reminder that the brain is indeed a VERY powerful organ, and as we know, runs the entire body. Deepak Chopra has stated [...]

Chiropractor heard ’round the world!

2010-02-02T10:04:40-05:00

I had a great opportunity, twice, to be broadcast on www.thatchannel.com, for a Liquid Lunch interview, which was preceded by an apprearance on Mensch Life TV, hosted by a great friend David Grossman.

Who gets adjusted? DANCERS!

2010-02-02T09:54:50-05:00

Ok, so Jerry Rice isn't a "dancer", but he did spend years dancing around the football field with incredible performance, illustrated by a Hall of Fame career.  Here he cites chiropractic care as one of the reasons.

The Chiropractic Monster: Defining yourself differently from the Beast

2010-01-01T14:17:41-05:00

I have come to terms in this most recent year of practice, that my profession has an image issue.  Its credibility is questioned by some, and raved about by others – how is this possible?! Just about every time I sit down with a new potential patient (potential because they have to be accepted first) and I inquire about any previous chiropractic experiences, I hear a multitude of  stories.  Some experiences will mirror what I offer, and others will be completely different. Let me tell you why: Through adaptation, modification, and the quest for acceptance, there are now two types of [...]
