Insight scans at Annex Family Chiropractic

Your nervous system, measured

I don't like to guess with your health. Computerized Insight scans give me additional information about patterns of muscle activity, skin temperature, and heart rate variability. I consider those findings alongside your history and hands-on examination to build a clearer picture of your spinal function and overall health concerns.

The scans are one part of a thorough assessment, not a diagnosis on their own. I'll explain what the results mean, how they fit with your other findings, and whether chiropractic care makes sense for your situation.

How the Insight system works

I use the Insight system to gather additional information during your assessment. It includes three scans: NeuroThermal, NeuroCore, and NeuroPulse. Each measures something different, and none tells the whole story on its own.

I consider the results alongside your health history, hands-on examination, and other relevant findings. At your second visit, I'll walk you through the results in plain language, explain what they may mean in your case, and discuss my recommendations.

Measures temperature patterns

NeuroThermal

This scan compares skin temperature patterns on either side of your spine. These patterns provide additional information that I consider alongside your history and other examination findings. Skin temperature can be influenced by several factors, so the results are interpreted in context.

Measures muscle activity

NeuroCore

Surface electromyography (sEMG) measures electrical activity in muscles along your spine while you maintain an upright posture. It provides information about patterns of muscle activity and a baseline that can be compared over time.

  • A baseline we can compare with future measurements

Measures heart rate variability

NeuroPulse

Heart rate variability (HRV) measures the natural variation in time between heartbeats. It provides information related to autonomic nervous-system regulation and how the body responds to changing demands. It is one part of the overall assessment, not a standalone stress test or diagnosis.

  • Considered alongside your history, examination and other findings

The bigger picture

More than three scans

Insight scans are an important part of my assessment, but they're not the whole picture.

I also consider your health history, hands-on spinal examination, posture and movement, and relevant orthopedic and neurological findings. X-rays or other existing imaging may provide additional information about spinal structure when clinically appropriate.

I bring these findings together to understand your situation, explain my recommendations, and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate. I don't base a care plan on a single scan or number.

What your report looks like

At your Report of Findings, I'll walk you through your scan results and explain what each measurement shows. You'll see patterns of muscle activity, skin temperature, and heart rate variability, considered alongside your history and examination findings.

The important part isn't any single colour, bar, or number. It's understanding what the results may mean in the context of your overall assessment.

What patients say

In their own words

Melanie G. · Google review

The first thing he did was getting a very scientific and analytical view of my current situation (spine X-rays, electromyography, thermography and neuroPULSE scans). He then recommended a treatment plan that was personalized to my challenges and clearly described the path to get better.
