Chiropractic care at Bloor and Spadina

Posture and desk strain care in the Annex

Hours at a desk. A laptop on the couch. A phone in your hand on the way home. Your body adapts to the demands you put on it, and sometimes those adaptations come with discomfort or restricted movement.

Posture is part of every assessment I do, but I look beyond how you stand. I want to understand how your spine moves, what your examination and neurological findings tell us, and how your daily routine may be contributing to the demands on your body. I won't promise you perfect posture. The goal is to improve function and help you manage everyday demands more comfortably.

What brings people through the door?

  • An ache between the shoulder blades
  • A head that drifts forward or shoulders that round
  • Stiffness after a long day of sitting
  • Neck or low back tension that eases on the weekend

How I assess what's going on

Every first visit starts with a conversation and a thorough examination. I assess your posture, spinal movement and range of motion, perform appropriate orthopedic and neurological tests, and carry out a hands-on spinal examination. Computerized Insight scans add objective measurements of muscle activity, skin temperature patterns and heart rate variability.

For desk-related strain, I also look at how you hold your head and shoulders, how you distribute your weight when standing, and whether particular movements are restricted. I consider these findings together to build a clearer picture of your spinal function and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

X-rays or other relevant imaging may also be taken or reviewed when clinically appropriate, based on your history and examination findings.

What care can involve

At your second visit, I'll explain what I found, what I recommend and what it costs. If chiropractic care is appropriate and you choose to proceed, care generally begins then.

  • Chiropractic adjustments tailored to your assessment
  • Spinal traction when appropriate
  • Practical guidance for managing everyday demands at home and work

The recommendations are based on your individual situation, rather than a standard plan for everyone.

There isn't one care plan for everyone

My recommendations depend on what we find, your circumstances and what you're hoping to achieve. Early care may focus on improving comfort and making movement easier. Over time, we assess how you're responding and whether the focus should shift toward spinal function and how your body handles the demands of everyday life.

We review your progress along the way, so the next steps reflect your findings, your goals and your response to care.
