For active people
Sports injury and mobility chiropractor in Toronto's Annex
Maybe something from the gym or the field is slow to settle. Maybe you just feel stiffer than you used to. Pain isn't the only reason people come to see me. Many want to stay active, move more freely, and better understand how their body is functioning.
My approach looks beyond where something hurts. I assess spinal movement, posture, balance, and relevant neurological findings to build a clearer picture of how you're moving and whether chiropractic care makes sense for your situation. Better movement gives the body more options.

What brings people through the door?
- A sports or gym-related injury that isn't settling as expected
- Stiffness that limits how far or comfortably you can move
- One side feeling different from the other
- Aches after running, lifting, or yoga
How I assess it
Every first visit starts with a conversation and a thorough examination. I assess your posture, spinal movement and range of motion, perform appropriate orthopedic and neurological tests, and carry out a hands-on spinal examination. Computerized Insight scans add objective information about muscle activity, skin temperature patterns, and heart rate variability.
For active people, I also look at balance, weight distribution, and movement restrictions that may be relevant to their concerns. I consider these findings together with your history and examination to understand your spinal function and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate. X-rays or other relevant imaging may also be taken or reviewed when clinically appropriate.
What care can involve
At your second visit, I explain what I found, how those findings may relate to your concerns, what I recommend, and what it costs. If chiropractic care is appropriate and you choose to proceed, care generally begins then.
- Chiropractic adjustments tailored to your examination findings
- Spinal traction when appropriate
- Practical guidance for managing everyday demands and staying active

There isn't one care plan for everyone
My recommendations depend on what we find, your circumstances, and what you're hoping to achieve. For some people, early care focuses on comfort and moving more easily. Depending on their needs and progress, the focus may later shift toward spinal movement, function, and how the body adapts to everyday and athletic demands.
We review your progress along the way and adjust the plan when needed.
What patients say
In their own words
After 6 months of struggling with scapular pain, loss of functional strength, and mobility, I was referred to Annex Family Chiropractic… Dr. Gelber thoroughly assessed my situation before beginning treatment. This upfront process made all the difference. It was not rushed.
I reached out to this clinic to deal with lingering hip and knee pain that's been going on for about 6 months. Having a very active lifestyle, I had to fix this… Clear communication of the adjustment pressure I was comfortable with definitely helped with the treatments…
I had been experiencing some pretty awful left-sided lower back pain that had been translating to my cycling, horseback riding, and even ability to stand comfortably in the shower. Dr. Gelber really listened to me and my issues, was kind and compassionate, and was able to work within my schedule.
Individual results may vary. Every patient's experience is their own.
Questions
Common questions
Do you see sports injuries?
Many people come to me after sports, work and auto injuries. My focus is the spine, movement and the nervous system, so I assess first. If your situation calls for another type of care, I'll explain that.
Do I have to be in pain to come in?
No. Some people come because they hurt. Others come because they notice changes in how they move, or they want to stay active. Pain is one reason people come to see me, not the only one.
