Books. Backpacks. Busy bodies.

Study hard. Move well.

Neck tension? Headaches? Stiff from studying? Back bothering you?

Between classes, deadlines, laptop hours, and everything else on your plate, it's easy to put your own health on the back burner. If you've been noticing stiffness, discomfort, or changes in how you move, it may be worth taking a closer look.

At Annex Family Chiropractic, I look beyond where something hurts. I want to understand how your spine is moving, what your examination reveals, and whether those findings may be relevant to how you're feeling and functioning.

I've created a special introductory opportunity for university and college students to experience my approach to chiropractic through a complete, two-visit assessment.

What to expect

Two visits. A clearer picture.

My approach isn't simply about finding a sore spot and adjusting it. I want to understand your situation, gather relevant information, and explain what I find.

  1. Visit 1: Your Initial Assessment

We'll discuss your health history, concerns, daily routine, and goals. I'll assess your posture and spinal movement, perform appropriate hands-on, orthopedic, and neurological examinations, and use computerized Insight scans to gather additional information.

These scans provide information about patterns of skin temperature, muscle activity, and heart rate variability. They're one part of the assessment, considered alongside your history and other examination findings.

  2. Visit 2: Your Report of Findings

At your second visit, we'll review your results together. I'll explain what I found, what the findings may mean in the context of your concerns, and what I recommend.

If chiropractic care is appropriate, we'll discuss your options and associated costs so you can make an informed decision about your next steps.

The full picture

More than a quick check of your posture

Your posture is one part of the picture, but it doesn't tell the whole story. I consider your health history, physical examination, spinal movement, and relevant neurological findings together.

Computerized Insight scans add objective information to help build a clearer picture of your situation. No single scan tells the whole story. My goal is to help you understand your findings in context, rather than draw conclusions from one number or test.

In their own words

Mark H. · Google review

As a student, I have constantly endured back pain and neck pain possibly due to bad posture while studying and carrying heavy loads during my commute to school… I let Dr. Gelber know about my fears and worries and he eased me into the adjustment. Questions

Questions students ask

Where can I find a chiropractor near U of T?

Annex Family Chiropractic is at 738 Spadina Ave, Suite 206, at Bloor and Spadina, at the north-west edge of the St. George campus and near Spadina station. You can book online or call 416-967-4466.

What happens at my first appointment?

The first visit focuses on understanding your health history, concerns and goals. Dr. Gelber will conduct a thorough assessment that may include posture and movement analysis, hands-on examination, relevant orthopedic and neurological tests, and computerized Insight scans. The goal is to build a clearer picture of your situation before making recommendations.

Do I need X-rays?

Not everyone needs X-rays. Imaging decisions are made on an individual basis, taking into account your history, examination findings and any relevant imaging you already have. If X-rays are recommended, Dr. Gelber will explain why before proceeding. With a valid Ontario health card, X-rays are covered by OHIP.

Can I use my student health benefits?

Many student health and dental plans include chiropractic benefits, with annual limits that vary by plan. Check your plan details before your visit, and let our team know if you need receipts or forms for your claim.

How do I know whether chiropractic care is appropriate for me?

That's what the initial evaluation is for. Dr. Gelber assesses your situation, explains the findings and tells you whether chiropractic care makes sense for you. If another type of care would be more suitable, he'll say so.
